Best Time to Visit Antigua
For ideal weather, plan your trip to Antigua between January and May, when the island enjoys steady trade winds, comfortable temperatures, and minimal rainfall.
During these winter months (December–May), expect warm days averaging 86°F (30°C), cooler evenings around 68°F (20°C), and inviting sea temperatures of 78°F (26°C). From June to November, temperatures rise slightly to 89°F (32°C) with warmer waters at 82°F (28°C), but this period also brings higher humidity and a greater chance of rain.
Sailing Conditions in Antigua
Antigua is a sailor’s paradise, especially in winter, when easterly or northeasterly trade winds blow consistently at 18–20 knots, with occasional stronger gusts. Note that northerly swells can affect some anchorages particularly around Barbuda so consult your charter base when planning your route.
Summer brings lighter but still reliable winds (10–25 knots), typically blowing from the east to southeast, making it another great season for sailing, though with warmer conditions.
